Second Half Spree Lifts No. 5 Quincy Past Massasoit, 97-91

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit held the high-powered fifth-ranked Quincy offense in check for the first half, but after intermission the Granite woke up earning a 97-91 win at the Peter Asiaf Field House on Thursday night.

Massasoit (16-6, 16-6 R21) led the national's fifth leading scoring team 43-34 at the half as Quincy native Mark Munroe and Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) combined for 25 points in the first half. The 34 points was a season-low for a half all season for the Granite.

The Warriors actually held the Quincy (21-2, 21-1 R21) offense scoreless for almost the first seven minutes until Dajour Dunkley drained a 3-pointer with 13:07 left in the half.

Following intermission, the Granite offense woke up, outscoring the Warriors 63-48 in the second half to earn the victory.

Five players scored in double figures for Massasoit, led by Belezos scoring a career-high 21 points, followed by 20 from Mark Georges, 16 by Rael Handy, Munroe added 14 and Rollsky Edouard added 12.

The two-headed monster of Deven Palmer and Hugo Kamalu combined to score 43 points in the second half. Kamalu finished with a game-high 36 points and Palmer netted 27. Jonthan Daviega added 23 points, including six 3-pointers.

The loss snapped a 10-game home win streak for the Warriors.

Massasoit travels to Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology on Saturday at 7 PM.
